Isolator Cabinets

The Cytolator Isolator Systems offer the highest protection for both the user and the environment. Maximum user protection is achieved by means of a sealed window construction, operated with gloves.

The cabinets themselves offer protection by utilising HEPA filtration.

The systems are availabile in a variety of configurations:

  • Choice of access hatches: 1 or 2
  • Choice of sizes: 1190mm wide or 1800mm wide (internal widths)

Material:
The exterior of the Cytolator cabinets and hatches are manufactured in 304-grade stainless steel.

Safety:
The inspection hatches and filter/frame joints utilise a unique negative pressure seal.

Fan:
230v stepless speed controlled fan is adjusted by the speed controller in the head section

1st HEPA Filter:
The first HEPA filter is situated directly underneath the worksurface. This ensures the contaminated area within the cabinet is kept to a minimum. It also means that all air is filtered twice therefore ensuring maximum safety.

The filters (H14) fitted underneath the worksurface can be changed under "contamination free" conditions according to EN 12469. These filters are of V-shaped type and have an efficiency of 99.999% at 0.3 microns.

Downflow & Exhaust HEPA Filters:
The downflow and exhaust HEPA-filters (H14) are high quality filters and provide a bettr than Class A environment (according to GMP, annex 1). They have an efficiency of 99.99% at 0.3 microns. Each filter is tested immediately after manufacture in accordance with EN1822.

Each filter will be tested again on-site by utilising the DOP test method.

Monitoring:
Each Cytolator is equipped with a sensor which continuously monitors the pressure inside the cabinet. This sensor is positioned on the rear wall of the cabinet to monitor the working area. An audible and visual alarm will alert the operator in case of low or high pressure. A minihelic gauge is also mounted on the front of the cabinet to show working area pressure.

Efficiency Test Points:
An efficiency test point is provided for each HEPA filter.

Membrane Keypad:
The membrane keypad houses all buttons for essential operation and maintenance functions. All alarms are both audible and visual, although the audible alarm can be muted leaving only a visual alarm. All alarms have a battery back-up in case of power failure.

The control panel has the following standard controls:

  • Power On/Off
  • Lighting On/Off
  • Alarm Mute
  • Hours Run Indicator
  • Fan Speed Selector - Full/Half Speed
  • Electrical Socket On/Off
  • Key switch to lock settings

The following alarms are identified on the panel:

  • Pressure High/Low working area
  • Pressure High/Low hatch(es)

Glove System:
There are two or four glove positions with gloves suitable for the following glove positions:

Sleeves         Wrist Rings         Disposable Gloves

Air Pressure:
A negative air pressure encloses the working area of the Cytolator. The air pressure in the hatches is lower than the work area.
